Did you know the town of Rod Rouge is split into parishes rather than counties? This is all thanks to the town’s rich history. Rambling round the streets of Rod Rouge, you can gawk at the abounding historic structures that decorate the town. It is virtually like taking a trip down memory lane.

This French Creole house was built in 1791, but has maintained its original plan and charm for more than two hundred years.

The whole house was created using cypress beams as support and flooring. It’s a testament to the unique, superb quality of old, Southern design. Now, the Magnolia Mound Plantation is the location of tutorial tours and courses built to teach visitors and college scholars the wealthy French Creole culture which has formed much of southern Louisiana. Also notable among the Rod Rouge significant houses is the Nottoway Plantation. Found just above the Mississippi Stream, this huge mansion shows an unusual mix of traditional Greek design and more recent designs. Built in 1859, the Nottoway Plantation has got many characteristics which were rare back then.

It is actually an architectural wonder for its time. It is really a fascinating site to be visit. The Myrtles Plantation ranked tops as one of the nation’s most well-liked Haunted Homes . At one time, tours offered on the Laura Plantation were ranked as the Best History Tour in the USA. The Rod Rouge important houses talk truth to the town’s rich, past life.
