Most young Venitians go to the mainland to dance the night away. This year the crowds will be flocking to Marghera for a summer-long festival of music. The majority of the concerts are from local reggae, blues, afro or funk groups but there’s 1980s’ tunes on Saturday, played by the DJs from Radio Venezia, and cabaret on Sunday. Marghera is a bit of an industrial waste land, but the noise ordnance aren’t nearly as strict as in Venice, so the party goes on until the wee hours.
